Chris Rock’s latest Netflix special, Selective Outrage, has caused controversy after the comedian made a joke comparing the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, to convicted R&B singer R Kelly. In response, Michael Jackson’s nephew, Taj Jackson, took to Twitter to call out Rock’s “bullying” and thank Will Smith for slapping him at the 2022 Oscars.
“Chris Rock has used my family as punching bags for his entire career,” Jackson wrote. “Yet I am supposed to feel bad for him getting slapped and humiliated on the Oscars.”
Taj Jackson, who was an original group member in the group 3T, went on to list three things he had to say to Chris Rock, including questioning why his family has been subject to decades of harassment and bullying disguised as jokes.
Jackson’s comments have sparked a debate on social media, with some supporting his stance and others defending Rock’s right to free speech and comedic expression.
