Thanks for your time today, how are things going?
Thank you for giving me the opportunity, and reaching out. Things are going very good! Working a lot, and blessed to be!
Where are you from, and how do you think that has impacted where you are today?.
I was born and raised in Juncos, Puerto Rico. I moved to Florida when I was 11 years old, but the Culture impacted where I am today. Puerto Rican traditions, the Spanish Language, and the culture impacted my music in a surreal level. It brings the passion, spicy essence and electricity of my aura and music.
Tell us what inspired you to get into the booth and record for the first time?
I’ve been into music my whole life. I used to sing for ballroom dances, and in a church where I took vocal lessons. I started a band with my three older brothers called “The Rodz” after playing Rockband for a while, and felt the potential. My oldest brother Joshua composed the songs, and all of us performed them together. I was the main vocalist, Joshua composed the songs and played the bass, José was the drummer, and Ramsys played the guitar.
After a while we decided to all go our own way into different passions, but that’s when I got my Ukulele gifted on my 21st birthday by my brother, Ramsys. I learned how to play it by watching YouTube videos and decided to compose my first song “Breathless”. One thing led to another and my brother’s friend, Ovani invited me to be a part of his song “Desilusión”. It was actually the first time I got into a studio. Not too long after that I met a producer, that wanted my voice for a featuring with one of his artists, and that’s when I wrote my verse for “Juego Del Amor” my first song composed, produced and recorded in a studio. When I started singing my verse the energy was so intense we decided to make it my own first song instead of a featuring with another artist. This then became my first released Single with an official music video, and from there I have not stopped creating and working on my music.
What is the most rewarding part of creating music?
The most rewarding part of creating music is the process of creating it. It all begins with an idea. I am a firm believer that music is the universal language. The way I organize my melodies, and sound is to increase the positivity of the listeners. The rewarding part is seeing the projects to their completion and presenting them to the world. Music is all energy, and I feel like it’s so rewarding being able to share a piece of myself with the world and see it being embraced by other people.
Making music with the purpose of expressing my feelings and not over repressing them while sharing a positive message is the most important part of creating for me. Music heals, and if I have the opportunity of making music, so people feel confidence, and happiness, I feel like I’ve done my job as an artist.
What do you like to do to get into a creative space when you’re writing your music?
What do you like to do to get into a creative space when you’re writing your music?
I am usually always getting ideas, and thoughts that will just linger in my mind. I always have my notebook and whenever I get an idea, I just write it down. When it comes to writing my music, I like being in a zen space, which is what I like to call “my creative corner”. I have a colorful lamp that I turn on, and prefer it being dark, and just put my headphones on, play a beat, and begin composing when I’m at home, but I compose whenever I can, and wherever. It’s just a feeling that when I get it, I have to stop doing anything I’m doing at the time, and write it down. It just comes to me like an explosion of different ideas, and I write them down.
Many of my songs have been composed in my car while I take my lunch break, eat, and compose the main idea. Once I get home from work, I immediately go to the computer and begin recording the idea which turns into a song. I work the song, and let the mood and feelings I am in, and structure the project. I like focusing and putting my energy at the moment to capture the essence of the feeling I try to portray.
How long have you been an artist?
I have always dreamt of becoming a recognized artist, but I began performing since I was 15 years old. I recorded my first Single “Juego Del Amor” back in 2018, and I have grown significantly since then. It’s been 4 years of dedication, sacrifices, but all toward the goal of getting my music heard and shared around the world.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Juncos, Puerto Rico. I was born and raised there until I turned 11 and moved to Florida. The years I spent of my childhood were super influential to the way my music developed, but I think it’s a good combination since it gave me the ability to do a cross-over between English and Spanish music. I have mainly composed Spanish songs, but have a few English and Spanish songs that engages a wider variety of people.
What are the challenges of being an Artist?
There are many challenges as an artist, but I believe they are to be seen as stepping stones toward where you are headed. Common challenges are struggling to get opportunities, you will get a lot of no’s before you can get any yes’s. A lot of people will try to benefit from you, without actually adding value your art, but it’s all lessons to learn and grow as an artist. Being an artist is not only about being a star, it’s the reasons and struggles you overcome that make you shine like one.
Are you planning on releasing new music soon?
I have a lot of projects in the works, and a lot of collaborations coming with other upcoming artists as well. I am constantly working on my music, even if it takes a while to release them as I am independently working on it all, I make sure to execute any idea I may have, and continuously maintaining the listeners satisfied with quality content..
Do you have any upcoming show dates in the near future?
Yes! I have an upcoming show on July 22nd, performing in Orlando. I have performed in many lounges here in Orlando, Kissimmee, Deltona, and will continue seeking for more opportunities to perform and share my music with the world.
Who’s one artist you would like to collab with?
An Artist I would like to Collaborate with would be Chris Brown. I have listened to him since I can remember and honestly the way his vocal sound, the energy his music gives fills me with appreciation, happiness and is aligned around the same sound I try to achieve. I think that his vocal range soothes mine and I think a collaboration with me would be a good opportunity to express the same feeling in English and Spanish to bring the listeners something unique and fresh.
What is one message you would give to your fans?
I would like to let my fans know that I am grateful. When you feel like nobody believes in you, you have to believe in yourself. You have to visualize what it is that you desire and go for it. Life is precious, life is beautiful, but it’s not meant to be easy. You will face a lot of struggles, and you will at times feel like you’re lost, but you cannot lose hope. You cannot blur your vision due to obstacles, and you must be strong. You must really ground yourself to the idea that if you can dream it, you can do it. Do not limit yourself, or be destroyed by criticism. Be YOU. The most beautiful thing that someone can do is be their genuine self. Don’t be afraid to be different, because being YOU is your ultimate power.
